1. Introduction

Red Kangaroo Media LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the GemBook mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. By using GemBook, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials.

Referral Data: Information you enter about your personal referrals and recommendations, including names, contact details, descriptions, and notes.

Group Data: Information related to groups you create or join, including group names, membership, and referrals shared within groups.

Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.

Usage Data: We use analytics services including Mixpanel and Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as feature usage, session duration, and navigation patterns. This helps us improve the App experience.

Screenshots: When you use the screenshot import feature, images are transmitted to OpenAI’s API for text extraction. We do not store your screenshots on our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App
  • Create and manage your account
  • Store and display your referrals
  • Enable group sharing features
  • Process screenshot imports using AI-powered text extraction
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the App
  • Send service-related communications
  • Respond to your inquiries and support requests

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party services that are necessary to operate the App:

  • Supabase: Cloud database and authentication provider. Your account and referral data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure.
  • OpenAI: Screenshot images are sent to OpenAI’s API for text extraction when you use the screenshot import feature. OpenAI’s data usage policies apply to this processing.
  • Mixpanel and Google Analytics: Anonymous usage analytics to help us understand how the App is used.
  • Apple: For authentication (Sign in with Apple) and subscription management through the App Store.

When you share referrals to a group, other members of that group can view the shared referral information.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. We use a third-party database provider to securely store all data. Data is transmitted using TLS encryption and stored with row-level security policies that ensure you can only access your own data. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for data processing

8. Children’s Privacy

GemBook is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy within the App and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

10. Account Deletion

GemBook allows users to delete their account and associated data at any time.

How to Delete Your Account:

  1. Open the GemBook app
  2. Go to Account
  3. Tap Delete Account and Data
  4. Confirm your request

Once your account deletion request is confirmed, your GemBook account and all associated personal data will be permanently deleted from our systems. This includes:

  • Saved referrals
  • Contact and profile information
  • Groups and sharing history
  • Any other user-generated content associated with your account

GemBook does not retain personal data after an account is deleted except where required for legal or security purposes. In those cases, only minimal records may be retained for a limited period in compliance with applicable laws.
